Anna Goodman is an American songwriter and former best friend cum first wife of Ben Folds.
The duo had been had been childhood sweethearts, and Anna had been the one who encouraged Folds to play music from a young age.
She later became the manager of his band Majosha in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She also co-wrote many of the band’s songs, including “Alice Childress”, “The Last Polka”, “Smoke”, “Kate”, and “Lullabye”
Anna and folds were married from 1987 to 1992.

Ben Folds is a singer, songwriter, musical composer and leader of the famous 90s rock trio Ben Folds Five.
Born on September 12, 1966, in North Carolina, Folds attended the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Folds began his musical journey with the band Majosha as far back as 1980. The band was known for releasing several records and performing at bars and major events.
After the group split, Folds formed Ben Folds Five in 1994, with bassist Robert Sledge, and drummer Darren Jessee in Chapel Hill.
As a solo artist, Folds has released a number of albums and collaborated with musicians such as William Shatner, Regina Spektor, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and yMusic.
Folds had composed the soundtracks of the animated films Hoodwinked!, and Over the Hedge.
In 2009, Folds became a judge on the NBC a cappella singing contest The Sing-Off and in 2019, he published a memoir, titled A Dream About Lightning Bugs: A Life of Music and Cheap Lessons.
In 2023, Folds announced his next album What Matters Most, following the release of his single “Winslow Gardens”.
Folds is an award-winning artiste and has been inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
He has also earned a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
