Dave has worked on various Adult Swim shows created primarily by Williams Street, an animation-centered, Atlanta-based production division of Cartoon Network. After giving the producers a very formal letter of recommendation written in crayon, Dave got hired at Ghost Planet Industries. In 1995, he was hired as a writer for Cartoon Planet. The for Space Ghost Coast to Coast (SGC2C for short) later hired him as a writer. In 2000, he helped in the writing and production of the two Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak specials.

Dave met Matt Maiellaro while in Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Together with Matt Maiellaro, the two later created many independent short films and also created the popular Adult Swim cartoon Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Aqua Teen Hunger Force first premiered unannounced in the early hours of December 30, 2000, and later officially debuted on Adult Swim in the Fall of 2001.

Dave co-created the show Squidbillies in 2005. In 2010, he created Cheyenne Cinnamon and the Fantabulous Unicorn of Sugar Town Candy Fudge. He also co-wrote “New Kidney in Town,” an episode of Family Guy in 2010.
