Shibuno won her first international game during the 2019 Women’s British Open by defeating American Lizette Salas. She had never played professionally outside her home country Japan. She has been named “Smiling Cinderella” by the Japanese media.

Hinako Shibuno’s Parents And Her Early Life
Shibuno was born to her father, Satoru, and her mother, Nobuko. Her parents were both athletes. Her father was a discus thrower, and her mother threw the javelin.
She was born and brought up in Okayama, Japan, with her two sisters, her being the middle child. She was interested in golf from a very young age; when she was in second grade, she started playing golf and softball. She was a pitcher and a converted left-handed hitter as a softball player.
In the 2010 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship, she finished in third place. During her junior year in high school, she joined the school’s baseball club as the only female player on the team.
When she won the 2011 Okayama Prefecture Junior Golf Championship, her baseball coach advised her to play golf for the school.
She continued to play golf when she joined Sakuyo High School in 2014. She won the Chugoku Region Women’s Amateur Championship. In 2015, she won the National High School Golf Championship, which was a team competition.
