Colonel Bob Sheridan was an American boxing and MMA commentator. He broadcast over 10,000 fights on radio and television. Sheridan attended the University of Miami on a baseball scholarship and briefly played for the Class-A Miami Marlins after graduating in 1966.

Legendary coach Dick Sheridan, who led Orangeburg-Wilkinson to its only state championship in football, died Thursday. The former North Carolina State and Furman coach was 81.
Sheridan died at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, his son, Jon, told Furman athletic department spokesman Hunter Reid. Bob Sheridan widely regarded as the “voice of boxing”, Sheridan called over 1000 world title fights, among them some of the sport’s most iconic contests, dating back to 1974’s “Rumble in the Jungle” between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman and the “Thrilla in Manila” between Ali and Joe Frazier.
He was also part of the broadcast during one of the most infamous moments in boxing history when Mike Tyson bit off a part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their 1997 rematch.
