Proof That Faith Hill Is One of the Most Successful Musicians Of All Time And All About Her Marriage To McGraw

Faith Hill is a multiple award-winning American musician and record producer. With over 40 million albums sold worldwide, she is one of the most successful country music artists in the world. One of the most remarkable things about Faith is that even though she started out as a country music singer, she has successfully crossed over into pop music with many popular songs and albums under her belt.

For someone who has been active and relevant in the very competitive entertainment industry for almost three decades, it is no surprise that she piques the interest of many people for reasons that range from her career accomplishments to facts surrounding her personal life.

Events Leading Up to Her Big Break In The Industry

Faith Hill was born on the 21st of September 1967 in Ridgeland, Mississippi. She was named Audrey Faith Perry by her adoptive parents; Pat and Edna Perry. From an early age, it was quite obvious that she had an amazing voice and by the age of 7, she was already performing in public.

During her teenage years, Faith performed at an eclectic mix of places, including churches, local rodeos, and even jailhouses. After high school, she attended college for a while but ultimately left to focus on her music career. She eventually moved to Nashville in order to realize her dream of being a professional artist.

In Nashville, things were not exactly easy for Faith Hill as she had to work various jobs in order to make ends meet while pursuing her aspirations. She worked at MacDonald’s, sold souvenirs at concerts, and sang backup for other established singers. She also worked as a secretary in a music company during which she met her first husband, Daniel Hill.

Faith Hill eventually got her big break while singing backup for Gary Burr in the popular bluebird cafe in Nashville. An executive from Warner Bros Records who was in the audience on one occasion while she was singing helped her get her first recording contract.

Faith Hill Has Sold Over 40 Million Albums Across The Globe

Faith Hill released her first album titled Take Me As I Am in 1993. She followed it up with her second album, It Matters To Me, in 1995. Both albums were big hits and they produced three chart-topping singles: “Wild Ones”, “Piece Of My Heart”, and “It Matters To Me”. Faith’s next three albums; Faith (1998), Breathe (1999), and Cry (2002) were more pop-oriented and launched her into mainstream music.

Breathe would go on to become one of her most successful albums. It not only topped the Billboard country charts as well as other mainstream charts but also won the singer several prestigious awards.

In all, Faith Hill has released a total of 8 studio albums, including The Rest Of Our Lives (2017), a joint album with her husband Tim McGraw. She has also dropped four compilation albums and has sold more than 40 million albums across the world. This is partly why she is often listed among the most successful country music artists of all time.

She Has Won 5 Grammy Awards from 17 Nominations

The Grammy Awards is to musicians what the Oscars is to actors and so every musician would love to win the award at some point in their career. Some big names in the music industry are yet to be honored with a Grammy nomination but Faith Hill could boast of this seventeen times.

The first time she was nominated for the award was in 1997 and the first time she bagged it was in 2001. She won three of her five Grammys that year and they were for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, Best Country Album (Breathe), and Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.

In 2003, “Cry”, the first single from her fifth studio album earned her another Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. The last time she bagged the award was in 2006 when her song with Tim McGraw titled “Like We Never Loved at All” won them the gong for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.

Apart from her Grammy Awards, Hill has won 3 awards from 22 nominations at the Country Music Association Awards. She has also won 4 Peoples Choice Awards, 6 American Music Awards, and 15 Academy of Country Music Awards.

Tim McGraw Isn’t Her First Husband

As earlier mentioned, Faith Hill was first married to a music executive named Daniel Hill. The marriage, which began in 1988, lasted for 6 years before the couple divorced in 1994. After that, she started another relationship with Scott Hendrix, a music producer who she was in fact engaged to when she met her future husband Tim McGraw, an equally very successful country artist.

Faith ended her relationship with Scott and started dating Tim McGraw in 1996. The two lovebirds got engaged in May 1996 and tied the knot in October of that same year in a surprise ceremony in Tim’s hometown of Louisiana.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Are a Country Music Power Couple

Faith Hill and her husband have frequently performed together and collaborated on singles for each other’s albums. These collaborations have paid off on numerous occasions. The two have won Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration Vocals for two of their duets; “Let’s Make Love” (2001) and “Like We Never Loved At All” (2006).

Their 2006 Soul2Soul tour holds the record for the highest-grossing country music tour of all time. This has gone a long way in helping them to be jointly worth $250 million. Hill alone is reportedly worth an estimated $165 million. Her earnings come from her music career (album sales and ticket sales from tours) as well as from her acting career. Her other sources of income include her perfume line.

While enjoying success in their careers, Hill and McGraw have been able to raise three children; Gracie Kathrine born in 1997, Maggie Elizabeth born in 1998, and Audrey Caroline born in 2001.

Faith and her husband have also frequently joined forces for charity. When Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, they did not only raise money for victims but were also physically part of the relief effort.
